‘Mother covered in petrol and burned to death by boyfriend who discovered she was having an affair with his teenage son’

Stories like this make me wonder how putting oneself constantly over and above others helps anybody. By all means do what you can to stay happy (that includes bringing happiness to others by the way) but also do a mental and emotional evaluation of certain thoughts before turning them into actions.

There are those who might challenge me and say, “people have no control over who they fall in love with”. It has even been scientifically suggested that the part of the brain concerned with sanity is the one affected by those who are in love, so essentially, people in that state are robbed of logical reasoning (ever heard the phrase “madly in love?”). But there is yet a school of thought which argues that the state of loving someone is actually a conscious decision. Either way, I think a bit of self-control never hurt anybody before. The lack of it however, constantly leads to grief and uncertainty.

The story posted here I think reflects one such example of not thinking about how others feel about the actions we take. Why on earth would a man have a long-standing relationship with a woman, only to go ahead and father FOUR kids with her daughter???!!! Woody Allen much?

Is it any wonder therefore, that a woman who saw absolutely nothing wrong with making babies with her mother’s former lover, wakes up and decides that she now wants to have a romantic relationship with the man’s far younger son? Who by the way is her children’s step brother? And I guess at 19 that creep of a son had no idea it might be wrong to be in a sexual relationship with a woman who, to all intents and purposes was his step mom?

Please people, if we could all just learn to put the other person first I do believe the world would be a far more pleasant place to live in. I do not ascribe to what the man in question did by setting her ablaze, but should he have seen it coming? Err… yeah! Ever heard of Karma anyone? Well apparently she’s a bitch.

Now they go ahead and leave a whole bunch of psychologically skewered kids behind. What a life.

By Richard Spillett

A mum-of-four was burned to death after her boyfriend discovered she’d been having an affair with his 18-year-old son, a court heard.

Ashley Williams, 49, put tape over the mouth of his 24-year-old girlfriend Julie Beattie and hit her with a hammer before dousing her in petrol, the Old Bailey was told.

Miss Beattie staggered out of their house in Walworth, south London, shrouded in flames and later died from 90 per cent burns, the jury were told.

The court heard Julie Williams, pictured, was planning to move in with Ashley Williams Jnr on the day she died             The court heard Julie Beattie was planning to move in with Ashley Williams Jnr, pictured, on the day she died

Jurors heard that Miss Beattie had told father-of-12 Williams she was leaving him for his 18-year-old son, Ashley Williams Jnr, before the attack.

Prosecutor Edward Brown QC said: ‘That was why the defendant carried out the dreadful act of revenge that he did.

‘Julie Beattie died a terrible death. The medical staff at the burns unit did all they could but her injuries were such that she could not be saved.
She died of her injuries in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The court heard her last words were: ‘Ashley did this to me.’

Hours before the alleged attack, Miss Beattie’s sister Lucy had gone to help Miss Beattie collect her belongings and move in with her new lover, Ashley Jnr, the court heard.

But Williams, who was suspicious of Miss Beattie, returned home early from his work as an Islington Council groundsman to try and stop her.

Lucy Beattie said she left to give the troubled couple space but, when she came back, she saw her sister stumble out of the house in flames, the court heard.

Prosecutor Mr Brown said: ‘The fire that killed her was deliberately set by this defendant.

‘He used petrol that was likely to have been mixed with diesel. The liquid must have been on her when it was ignited.

‘Her other injuries were to the top of her head. He had hit her with a hammer.

‘That did not kill her. It was the flames that killed her, but that combination of injuries tells you much of the defendant’s actions in those dreadful moments.’

The court heard Ashley Williams Jnr, pictured, and Miss Beattie started a relationship after he moved in with her and his father
The court heard Ashley Williams Jnr, pictured, and Miss Beattie started a relationship after he moved in with her and his father

The court heard Williams had eight children with a previous wife, including Ashley Jnr.

He then started seeing Miss Beattie’s mum Linda, who had three children, including Julie, from a previous relationship.

When that relationship broke down, Williams began seeing Miss Beattie, who he went on to have four young children with, the first being born when she was just 16.

Jurors heard things began to deteriorate between the couple when Williams’ son Ashley Jnr moved in with them in September 2012.

Miss Beattie and Ashley Jnr started a sexual relationship and on the day of Miss Beattie’s death, the pair were planning to set up home together in Catford, south east London, the court heard.

Prosecutor Mr Brown said Williams, who did nothing to try and help Miss Beattie, was arrested in a park shortly after the attack.

He had slit his wrists and police were alerted to him after following a trail of blood from the house, the court heard.

Weeks before the attack he had tried to take an overdose of pills, jurors were told.

Mr Brown said that when police approached him he said: ‘I am the man you are looking for’.

Mr Brown added: ‘The cause of this lady’s terrible death was this defendant’s deliberate act. He was angry, aggressive and seeking revenge for what he considered she had done to him.

‘She was beaten by him with a hammer to the top of her head, no doubt when standing over her and then set light to her.

‘There can have been no other intention for what he did so but to cause her at least really serious harm or indeed death.’

Williams, of Walworth, south east London, denies murder. The trial continues.

Wife killer Akolade Arowolo found guilty of murder, sentenced to death

Today is a day of great joy for me. It is a day of celebrating Nigeria’s justice system. The judiciary has finally made an example of a young man who became the croan prince of domestic violence in Nigeria.

Akolade Arowolo is a young man who murdered his wife in cold blood 3 years ago. He stabbed and slashed her up so badly the corpse was barely recognizable. He did try to defend himself by saying she stabbed herself to death but how anyone manages to stab themselves 76 times leaves me totally bewildered and I guess the judge was stumped too.

The death sentence does not do much for me (I dont subscribe to it) but I do wish he had been sentenced to life in prison so he could leisurely watch his life waste away. But the court has had its way and to the extent that justice is served, I am perfectly satisfied.

31-year-old Akolade Arowolo standing trial for allegedly killing his banker wife, Titilayo, on June 24, 2011 has today been sentenced to death by hanging by an Ikeja High court.

A Lagos High Court in Ikeja has sentenced to death Akolade Arowolo for the murder of his banker wife, Titilayo, who he repeatedly stabbed to death at their residence in Isolo, Lagos, on June 24, 2011.

Justice Lateefat Okunnu, in her judgment on Friday, held that even though there was no eyewitness to the incident, the circumstantial evidence adduced by the prosecution had proved the murder charge against the convict beyond all reasonable doubt.

“I pronouce the defendant guilty and accordingly sentenced to death,” the court held.

Okunnu relied on the testimony of the forensic pathologist, Prof. John Obafunwa, who testified that there were at least 76 stab wounds found on the deceased.

Contrary to the convict’s claim during trial, Obafunwa had testified that the injuries must have been caused by sharp weapon applied on the deceased could not have been self-inflicted.

The judge said, “Applying the eliminating induction by eliminating other factors; judging by this case the factors, including the possibilities of another person entering the flat to stab the deceased to death, the possibility of the deceased stabbing herself and the possibility that the wounds were caused in autopsy room; it is my finding that no other persons but the defendant stabbed Omotunde to death.

“This established the causal link between the death and the defendant.”

The 32-year-old man, who was arraigned for murder on December 21, 2011, was said to have murdered his wife, Titilayo, at their residence at No. 8, Akindehinde Street, Isolo, Lagos.

The deceased was then an employee of Skye Bank Plc.

Obafunwa, who carried out the autopsy on the corpse of the deceased, had said there were at least 76 stab wounds on the body.

He described some of the wounds as penetrating the heart, and damaging other organs including, the diaphragm, lung and the liver of the deceased.

“I summarise the death of the deceased as caused by multiple injuries on the heart and abdomen due to knife and sharp blunt force trauma,” Obafunwa had told the court.

The prosecution led by the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs. Olabisi Ogungbesan, called 15 witnesses among whom were police officers and the father, sisters and step-mother of the deceased.

The man’s laptop and hard drive were sized  during a raid on the man’s home in 2012, reports The Australian.

Detectives have alleged the woman was drugged  with sedative and was therefore unaware of what was happening when the videos  and photos were taken which included sex acts performed on the sleeping woman  with a green tree frog.

The man is accused of uploading the videos  and photos to a pornography site and shared with other users videos  of sex acts being performed on his wife to another person.

Police allege the woman never granted consent  to her husband to take the images of her or upload them, reported the  website.

In 2012 the charges against him were withdraw, but  the case was re-opened following a review of the brief of evidence by the Office  for the Director of Public Prosecutions which ruled  there was sufficient evidence to recharge the man over the alleged offences due  to the quantity of electronic evidence involved.

‘Will you just die?’: Dying woman manages to reveal what boyfriend said to her as he stabbed her 40 times

The good thing about this story is that the woman in question lived long enough to identify her killer. The bad news is obvious. May her soul rest in peace.

  • Joanna Hall  was killed by out-of-work chef Steven Williams in Tenby,  Wales
  • The  30-year-old knifed her 40 times then went out to buy whisky
  • He laughed  down the phone when he finally dialled 999 five hours later
  • Joanna, 35,  named Williams as her killer before slipping into a coma
  • Jury  convicted him by 10-2 after hearing of her deathbed  accusation

Tragedy: Joanna Hall, 35, lay dying for five hours after  she was stabbed by Steven Williams

A woman whose frenzied boyfriend stabbed and  slashed her 40 times named him as the culprit from her hospital bed, then  slipped into a coma and died.

Joanna Hall, 35, begged unemployed chef  Steven Williams to dial 999 as she lay bleeding on the floor but he waited five  hours – then laughed down the phone to the operator.

Williams told police a mystery knifeman had  broken in while he was shopping at Sainsbury’s.

But a jury found him guilty of murder after  they were told of his girlfriend’s deathbed confession.

Williams, 30, from Tenby, west Wales, is  expected to be jailed for life tomorrow.

Swansea Crown Court heard the pair had been  dating for about six months when Williams grew suspicious that his girlfriend  had given him a sexually transmitted disease.

On March 16 last year he arrived at her flat  in Tenby after drinking whisky and launched into an argument.

It escalated and he stabbed and slashed her  repeatedly across her breasts and stomach with a kitchen knife.

Then, as she lay bleeding on the floor,  Williams went out for 10 minutes to buy more whisky, sarcastically telling her  not to go anywhere while he was gone.

When she was eventually airlifted to hospital  in Swansea – only after she had started falling unconscious – Joanna had enough  energy to point the finger at Williams in conversations with police, hospital  staff and her sister Georgina before slipping into a coma from which she never  recovered.

Her life support machine was switched off  almost three weeks after the attack.

According to her sister, she said from her  deathbed: ‘It was Steven Williams. He  turned up at my flat after drinking whisky, there was an argument and he  flipped.

‘He began stabbing me – then sat with me  smoking a cigarette and said: “Will you just die?”‘

The court was also read Joanna’s police  statement, which said: ‘He started  shouting at me and went into the kitchen and came back with a knife.

‘I asked him what he was going to do with it  and he said: “Watch me”.

‘He stabbed me in the back and the knife got  stuck but he managed to get it out and carried on stabbing me.’

Williams was arrested outside a nearby  supermarket shortly after the stabbing. He denied the attack throughout the trial –  but the jury was shown evidence of injuries he sustained as Joanna tried to  fight him off.

Prosecutor Elwen Evans described Joanna’s  injuries, some of which were too distressing to be published.

‘Her condition was very serious indeed,’ she  told the court. ‘She had suffered substantial blood loss.

‘She was flown by helicopter to hospital  where she underwent surgery and was put on a life support machine.

‘Her organs stopped functioning and she died  in April 2013, 20 days after the attack, but before going unconscious she was  able to give an account of what had happened to her.’

The jury found Williams guilty by a majority  of 10 to two, the smallest normally allowed in the law, after a three week  trial.

In a statement reported by WalesOnline, Joanna’s family said: ‘Williams  is an evil monster who needs to be locked away so that he can’t hurt anyone else  in the same way as Jo.

‘Nothing will bring Jo back or change the  heinous things that Williams did to her and unfortunately we now have to live  with that for the rest of our lives.’

He will be sentenced tomorrow. No psychiatric  reports were prepared.

Florida mom kills her two teens, self in murder-suicide month after divorce: cops

There is a famous saying which goes something like, “when 2 elephants fight, the grass suffers.” I guess these two parents were both so eager to score points during the divorce that they were ready to put their children directly in the cross hairs.

Granted, the mother pulled the trigger on those two kids. I am thinking depression (a mental illness which goes way beyond sadness) may have been the main factor. I could be wrong. We have no way of being sure of that right now either so I guess there is really no point talking about it. I do think she should have allowed the kids live out their lives in peace even if she absolutely felt she needed to end hers. But that said, the father, in his evil need to prove a point, pushed his ex wife to breaking point by depriving her AND his children of the bare basics they needed to get by.

How cruel can anyone get? Though the article does not tell us why they were getting divorced, at no point does the story suggest that the man thought the children were not his (which might excuse the neglect). How cheap can anyone get? Well, I hope now that he is rid of all of them he sleeps better at night hugging his money which should provide him plenty of company. How tragic.

The distraught mother of two talented teen musicians shot her kids dead  before turning the gun on herself in a gruesome double-murder suicide.

Richard  Berman, 51, found his bullet-ridden children, Alex, 16, and Jacqueline, 15,  and their mother, Jennifer Berman, 48, dead of a suicide in their West Palm  Beach home Monday morning — just hours after he received an email from the  maniacal mom threatening harm to their shared children.

Cops released the disturbing 911 calls from the moment Richard Berman and a  neighbor discovered the bodies Monday morning.

“It looks like she’s laid in bed but she doesn’t have a face,” the shaken  neighbor tells the dispatcher of the suicidal mom. “I think the girl’s up in bed  with her but when I saw what was upstairs I had to run back downstairs.”

Richard Berman tells 911 that he was heading to the house after his “ex-wife  said she was going to harm the kids.”

“She sent me an email that she did the best thing for our family,” Richard tells a police dispatcher as he called 911 en route to  the home. “And then she sent her cousin a text that she was going to kill  the kids and herself.”

Richard and Jennifer Berman had only divorced in December, WPEC-TV reported, weeks after Jennifer’s mother had died  last fall. Their home, on Pershing Way just off the Lake Worth Lagoon, was in  foreclosure, the TV station reports, and the kids and their mother were to move  out in February.

Jacqueline Berman, 16, was an accomplished musician. Her father found her body and those of her mother and brother after getting an alarming email from Jennifer Berman, his newly divorced wife.

Jacqueline Berman, 16, was an  accomplished musician. Her father found her body and those of her mother and  brother after getting an alarming email from Jennifer Berman, his newly divorced  wife.

“Oh, s–t,” Richard Berman says in the newly released 911 call after he finds his dead son  in the house. “I was just touching his head. He wasn’t waking up. His alarm  was on, he wasn’t waking up, there’s blood in his ear.”

The marital, and financial, woes in the family had existed for years.

Richard Berman originally filed for divorce in 2008 – 16 years after they  first married, the Palm Beach Post reported. The family was living lush for  years, but by early last year, Jennifer Berman was struggling to get by without  her ex-husband any longer in her life. The mom-of-two could no longer pay her  divorce attorney in April and was in such financial straits, she was forced to  sell her late father’s watch, the Palm Beach Post reported.

The family home had actually once belonged to Jennifer Berman’s mother and  had been in foreclosure since 2010.

One dead teen was 16-year-old Alexander Berman, a talented musician. It appears that he was shot and killed by his distraught mother, who committed suicide, say authorities.

“The husband has not paid the mortgage on the former marital home during the  entire time of the dissolution of marriage proceeding,” read documents filed in  court in May by Jennifer Berman. “He has not contributed to the support of the  wife or of the minor children. In fact, he has refused to pay for toilet paper,  buys food and supplies for himself and keeps them where the wife and children  cannot access them.”

Once a realtor, Jennifer Berman was forced to work 12-hour overnight shifts  as a nurse to make any income to support her children.

Richard Berman is a successful realtor who sells multi-million dollar homes  in South Florida.

Neighbors recalled Jennifer Berman as a normal, loving mother — until  recently.

“A couple of days ago, she was different,” Marian Sklodowski told WSVN-TV. “You could see it in her  face, there was something missing, something disturbed in her mind. The  conversation, the language, the eyes … something was missing.”

The teens were talented musicians attending the nearby Alexander W. Dreyfoos  School of the Arts, a prestigious arts high school in southern Florida. Alex  played cello while his older sister, a straight-A student, played violin.

Grief counselors were made available at the teens’ school this week as their  friends and peers come to grips with a tragedy of which police have yet to  determined a motive.

“Going through a divorce, foreclosure, a lot of that stuff which, it’s an  upsetting thing when you’re going through a divorce and having to sell the  beautiful house in this neighborhood, and it’s just, she just seemed like she  had been upset lately,” family friend Brian McManus told WSVN. “You can’t fathom,  you can’t understand what’s going on in someone’s head for things like that to  happen.”

Dope-smoking ex-boyfriend strangled estranged lover and her seven-month-old baby – then announced it on Facebook

Something tells me when Mark Zuckerberg started facebook, he had no clue it would one day prove a valuable tool for the justice system. Not only are law enforcement officers using it to look for missing persons and track down criminals, some of these criminals have themselves made the whole process a lot easier by providing confessions and proof of their evil deeds.

“Friends of Williams also told police he had  seemed fine after May 31 and was  ‘joking, laughing and smiling’ as he played  pool on a computer.” I bet that is one thing he wont be doing for much longer when he is thrown into jail with a lifetime of fresh pals who hate baby killers.

A man who strangled his ex-partner and her  seven-month-old son before using text messages and Facebook to announce what he  had done has been jailed for life with a minimum of 29 years.

Wesley Williams used a ligature to carry out  the ‘chilling, casual and calculated’ killings of Yvonne and Harrison Walsh, who  were found dead in their beds in June.

He then went on to Facebook, telling one  social media user he was in good spirits, and wrote: ‘Sometimes we just  have to  do things we shouldn’t.’

Sentencing Williams to life at  Birmingham Crown Court today, Mr Justice  MacDuff  described the 29-year-old cannabis user as being ‘clearly evil and  dangerous beyond measure’.

Williams throttled Ms Walsh and her baby  while another woman he had broken up with, Rebecca Shuttleworth, was standing  trial at the same court for the murder of her own two-year-old  son.

Details of his previous relationship with  Shuttleworth, who was jailed for life in June for killing Keanu Williams, could  not be reported by the media until today, when a court order was lifted by the  judge.

Williams, a violent offender with a string of  previous convictions, is thought to have killed Ms Walsh out of anger after she  ended their relationship as he planned to propose to her.

Investigations into the double murder  established that Williams made heartless comments on Facebook almost immediately  after the murders.

In a post to his own Facebook account timed  at 8.54pm on Friday May 31, Williams wrote: ‘Sometimes we just  have to do  things we shouldn’t.’

Ms Walsh, a social care graduate, is known to  have been alive at 8.10pm on the same night and the prosecution submitted that  she was dead by  8.54pm.

Inquiries by police also proved that Williams  told another social media user he was in good spirits, and had then posted: ‘I  am sorry it had to come to this,’ on  Ms Walsh’s Facebook page.

Before his arrest at a flat in Henderson  Court, Oldbury, West Midlands, on  June 2, Williams also sent a text message to  police, informing officers  that he had killed his girlfriend, who was upstairs  in a bedroom.

In the hours before he was apprehended, the  killer was also captured on  CCTV doing ‘high-fives’ with a friend in a  fast-food outlet.

Friends of Williams also told police he had  seemed fine after May 31 and was  ‘joking, laughing and smiling’ as he played  pool on a computer.

Last week, Williams admitted to killing his  former partner and the baby by ‘strangling  them in their beds’ just two days after  the couple had broken up in  Billesley,  Birmingham, West Midlands, in June this year.

University graduate Yvonne, 25, and Williams  had been in a relationship for several months – but it ended abruptly on May 31.

Two days later the mother and baby were found  dead in their beds after West Midlands Police forced their way into the  property.

Post-mortem examinations revealed the mother  and son had died as a result of pressure being applied to their  necks.

Williams admitted two counts of murder during  an emotional hearing at Birmingham Crown Court last week.

Addressing Williams last week, Judge William  Davis QC said: ‘Self-evidently, because of your pleas, the sentencing judge will  be obliged to sentence you to prison for life and the minimum period will be a  very substantial term.’

Both the victims died as a result of pressure  to the neck, according to a post mortem examination after they were found at  their home in Chells Grove on June 2.

He was arrested the same day, shortly after  the discovery of their remains by police.

Judge Davis QC ordered Williams to be  remanded in custody until his sentencing hearing.

Two hours before Williams appeared in court  Yvonne’s sister Tracey Walsh took to Facebook to plead with him to admit the  killings.

She wrote: ‘You’d think after six months this  would get easier but still feels like the first day…plead guilty today you  monster and let us get justice for our sister and nephew.’

Yvonne worked at a care home for vulnerable  adults in Moseley, Birmingham, less than  three miles from her home.

She had been seeing Williams for around two  months after she split from Harrison’s biological father.
