I guess it takes a particular kind of coward or evil person togo armed into a gathering of utterly defenceless people and open fire. They know they are most likely not going to be challenged in any way that interrupts what they are doing and aim to wreak the most damage and heartache they can. I am glad to know this person was not able to make much of an impact before he himself got taken down
My heart goes out to the family of the slain teacher, Michael Landsberry, a man of honour. He gave his life to protect those in his care. No greater love does a man have than this. God bless his soul and give him a place among the angels for even trying to stand up to the gunman.
The gunman was killed along with another person identified by two students as math teacher Michael Landsberry. Two others were hospitalized in critical condition and are described as two male minors.

Sparks Middle School students said math teacher Michael Landsberry was shot and killed by the gunman, but it had not yet been confirmed by police.
Two people are dead and two others are in critical condition after gunfire erupted at a northern Nevada middle school Monday morning, according to police. Students said a beloved math teacher was killed when he told the shooter to put down his weapon.
Police have not identified the two fatalities, except to say one was the gunman, after shots rang out at Sparks Middle School, RGJ.com reports.
The two hospitalized victims are described as two male minors. They were received at Renown Regional Hospital at 7:45 a.m. PDT, hospital spokeswoman Angela Rambo told the Daily News. An earlier report by RGJ identified one victim as being 12 years old.
Authorities and bystanders stand outside Sparks Middle School in northern Nevada, where police have confirmed that two people are dead and two others are hospitalized after a shooting took place.
A student speaking to RGJ, 13-year-old Kyle Nucum, described one of the victims as a male teacher who, after spotting a student with a gun, rushed at him to get him to put it down.
Swat team members secure the scene near Sparks Middle School in Sparks, Nev.
“We heard a pop, like a loud pop, and everyone was screaming, and then the teacher came to investigate,” Nucum said. “I thought it was a firecracker at first, but the student was pointing a gun at the teacher after the teacher told him to put it down, and then the teacher fell and everybody ran away.”

Sparks police say the first 911 call came in from the school at 7:16 PDT. Authorities arriving later ‘neutralized’ the shooter.
As he and the others were running he said they heard “about four or five more shots.”
Because Nucum was outside near the school’s basketball courts when it happened he said a neighboring lady allowed them to hide in her home.
Nucum approximated the teacher having been shot in chest.
The middle school, seen from above, was placed on lockdown before the students were evacuated to nearby schools.
His account has yet to be confirmed by authorities who refrained from indentifying the victims, though police said later in the day that one of the dead was a teacher.

“The Sparks Police Department has declared Sparks Middle School safe. There is an ongoing investigation,” Washoe County School District reported on its Facebook page at 9:30 a.m.
The school was shut down and students were evacuated to nearby Agnes Risley Elementary School before being bused to Sparks High School, the district announced approximately an hour earlier.
A woman fielding calls at Agnes Risley Elementary previously confirmed that all the kids were taken to their school, but they weren’t yet allowing parents to come pick up their children.
