A homeless man in the Boston area proved himself a Good Samaritan on Saturday.
The man, whose identity has not been released, found a black backpack, containing $41,900 dollars — and turned it in to police.
The man flagged down police patrolling the South Bay Mall in Dorchester at about 5:44pm, Massachusetts — and turned the bag in.
Boston Police said the man only gave his name and the address of the homeless shelter where he currently lives.
Officers contacted security at the South Bay Ball. The backpack was then stored at District C-6, located in South Boston.
Around 6:47pm, a Best Buy employee from the South Bay Mall contacted police, saying a customer told staff he lost his backpack containing a ‘large sum of money.’
Police confirmed the customer’s identity when they transported him to district headquarters and examined his passport from The People’s Republic of China, The Boston Herald reports. The backpack was subsequently returned.
