Pregnant Teen Found Culpable in Shooting Death After Crying on TV over Boyfriend’s Mother’s Murder

Teenagers can be very volatile and it can be pretty difficult to differentiate between those just blowing hot and those who can be presumed a real threat. Well, one young man and his girlfriend proved to be the latter after a heated argument with his mother.

Crocodile tears!

Elizabeth Fowler, 16, gave a tearful statement to a news crew shortly after Sherri Rhoney — the mother of the teen’s boyfriend, Daniel Rhoney, 17 — was found shot in the head. But the wounded woman woke in the hospital long enough to tell investigators she was attacked and shot by the two teens during an argument.

A North Carolina teen and his girlfriend were booked on an attempted murder rap for shooting the boy’s mother in the head — after the tearful girlfriend choked back tears at the scene, claiming she didn’t know what happened.

Elizabeth Fowler, 16, wept in front of a news camera soon after Sherri Rhoney — the mother of her 17-year-old boyfriend, Daniel Rhoney — was found bleeding outside her Catawba County home on Wednesday.

Daniel Rhoney, 17, the victim’s son, and his girlfriend, Elizabeth Fowler, 16, were each charged with attempted murder.

“She’s a very helpful woman,” Fowler told WSOC-TV. “I’m seven months pregnant and she has done everything for me and my child. I can’t believe somebody would hurt her.”

But the wounded mother, who was saved after an off-duty sheriff’s deputy spotted her lying on the ground, briefly woke at the hospital and told investigators who shot her, the station reported.

Sherri Rhoney was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where she is being treated for a bullet wound to her head.

“They lied to you,” Reid said. “No doubt in my mind about that.”
