Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones separate, ‘taking a break’ from marriage: report

I sort of thought the complete silence (i.e no drama whatsoever) coming from this marriage was a little too good to be true for Hollywood. Am I happy to see them purportedly going their separate ways ? No. Particularly not for Michael. He is old, has battled cancer and is on the verge of losing a second marriage. I don’t think thats how anyone desires to go out.

I wish them well and hope they can sort things out.

In recent days the “Behind the Candelabra” star has been vacationing in Sardinia, while Zeta-Jones has been at their home in New York.

Though it’s reported neither star has filed for divorce or moved towards a legal separation, Douglas reportedly opted for a pre-nuptial agreement when he married Zeta-Jones, after learning from his first marriage — one that resulted in his shelling out $45 million in a divorce settlement to ex-wife Diandra Luker.

The past couple of years in their marriage have been rocked by shocking news of Douglas’ throat cancer diagnosis in 2010 — which he went on record attributing to transmission through oral sex — and Zeta-Jones’ revelation of her battle with Bipolar II disorder in 2011.

“This is a disorder that affects millions of people, and I am one of them,” Zeta-Jones told People mag at the time.

“If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it. There is no need to suffer silently, and there is no shame in seeking help.”
